Circa 1860 French Renaissance Revival Carved Walnut Clock & Barometer

A striking mid-19th-century French clock and barometer , dating to circa 1860, housed in an impressive carved walnut case in the Renaissance Revival, or Henri II, style .

The architectural case features richly carved walnut, turned columns, decorative panels, molded architectural details, an elegant broken-arch pediment and a distinctive finial. The beautifully aged dark-walnut finish gives the piece the warmth and character expected of an exceptional French antique from the Second Empire period.

The clock dial is particularly attractive, with applied Roman numeral cartouches and finely detailed gilt hands , while the lower portion incorporates a period barometer/meteorological instrument , adding both function and historical interest.

This substantial and highly decorative piece would make a wonderful focal point in a library, study, salon, office, or formal living room , particularly within a traditional or European-inspired interior.
